Global Arms Trade and Human Welfare

ARMS TRADE AND HUMAN WELFARE

Why are the world's leading countries are spending money to purchase arms but not for human welfare?

According to the latest report by Sipri, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the US headed list of top 10 arms buyers last year, spending $661bn on military equipments. It was followed by China (spending an estimated $100bn), France ($63.9bn), Britain ($58.3bn), Russia (an estimated $53.3bn) and Japan ($51.8bn).

The global financial crises have had little impact on military budgets. Last year, $1.5tr was spent on weapons, an annual increase in real terms of 5.9 percent according to report by Sipri.

The super powers of the world are trying to defend their boundaries of the countries. They should have to work for the welfare of the poor people. But they are not even acting upon the agenda of UNO to eliminate poverty from the world.

I want to receive the comments of the common internet users on this topic. Kindly share this small article at various websites and this should be followed by most of the internet users all over the world.
